Consolidation within the European pet supplies retail sector has now extended to the Balkans. Even before the Fressnapf Group announced its intention of focusing more closely on opening new pet stores in this region together with the Unconditional Group around owner Edvard Varda, the Czechia-based Plaček Group had already opened its first Super Zoo store in Croatia.
The outlet, which is situated in a brand-new retail park in Kaštel Sućurac near Croatia’s second biggest city Split, covers a retail area of 400 m² and offers a wide range of products and livestock, including tropical fish, exotic birds, small animals and reptiles.
The store is based on the latest, ultra-modern and popular Super Zoo concept. In October, the second store will be opened in Velika Gorica. In 2023 the Plaček Group aims to open two more stores in Vinkovci and Čakovec. The final plan is to open 20 Super Zoo stores in Croatia in next 5 years.
