The international private label association PLMA has reported an increasing interest by traditional retailers in rapid delivery services. These services promise to deliver customer orders fast directly to the customer's home.
Although it was primarily supermarkets that resorted to these services previously, more and more pet product retailers are also turning to this option.
The UK and international supermarket chain Tesco, for example, has partnered with the Gorillas delivery service. Ten-minute delivery times from supermarkets, covering a selection of 2 000 items, are being tested. To this end, small warehouses are being created in open spaces at the supermarkets taking part in the trial, with the Gorillas teams operating from these.
The Rewe Group in Germany has partnered with the Flink express service, which now markets a large number of private label products. Carrefour in France has teamed up with the start-up Cajoo, which will assume responsibility for order-picking 2 000 national and Carrefour private label products in the food and non-food categories via the interface of the Uber Eats app.
